Couples can even enjoy the experience together in the “Orange Blossom Couples Retreat” where you’ll be able to experience raw sugar cane scrub among other treatments. Plus, get yourself ready for the beach with waxing services, or that big night out with eyebrow and lash treatments.
The day spa specialises in Pure Fiji spa treatments, as well as its own spa products which come in mostly tin and glass tubes for a more sustainable touch. Try their “Feluteni Balm” where 10% of the purchase goes to the Queen’s charity. Island Glow is open from 9 am to 6 pm Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 7 pm Friday, and 9 am to 4 pm Saturday.

If you’re short on time but crave a bit of pampering, head upstairs to the local’s favourite, Mia Hair and Beauty. While primarily a hair salon, the team of Filipino beauticians and stylists use their skilful hands for soothing head massages, facials and foot massages. Pop in for an “Express Facial” or indulge in the full 45 minutes with a clay or collagen face mask. They also have a foot spa including a foot soak, scrub and massage. Find the parlour open from 9 am to 7 pm Monday to Saturday.

3. Little Treasures Lashroom
Give your lashes or nails an uplift with a pampering session at Little Treasures Lashroom. Tucked away in the laneway known as “Taufa’ahau Village” in Nuku’alofa town centre, the beauty parlour offers a sleek and airy environment (helped by the high ceilings) for a relaxing manicure, pedicure or lash extensions. It’s also a good place to mingle with friendly locals. Little Treasures is open from 9 am to 9 pm Monday to Saturday. Note that rates are cheaper from Monday to Wednesday.

Unleash your radiance with a beauty treatment at Kamini’s Beauty Bliss. Another parlour located in Taufa’ahau Village, your beautician, Kamini, will ensure you’re beach-ready with the full range of waxing services. Better yet, unwind with a deep cleansing and exfoliating facial using coconut oil and a herbal face mask. Facials also include a head and scalp massage. Eyebrow tinting and threading are also available. Kamini’s is open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Saturday. However, it’s sometimes impromptuly closed, so it is best to book ahead.

Yes, that “We Buy Gold” shop is the next massage parlour on our list of spas in Nuku’alofa and Tongatapu. Although seemingly more of a pawn shop than a massage studio, Mike’s Studio is set up for relaxing massages in partitioned corners of the small studio with floral drapes and soothing lighting. Walk in for 30-minute or one-hour massages performed by Mike or his father (yes, male masseuses only). Although you can book ahead, they cannot guarantee you a spot at the time booked, so it’s just best to walk in.
