Spas in Tongatapu
Tonga’s capital is where you’ll find the widest range of day spas in Tonga. Spas are scattered across Nuku’alofa, from spas conveniently located in the city centre to suburban spas, waiting to ease your aches and transition you into “Tonga time“. Check out some of the day spas in Tongatapu below.
Island Glow
This city centre day spa is one of the most comprehensive day spas in The Kingdom, offering a wide range of spa treatments, as well as hair styling, waxing and more. Try something classically “South Pacific” like a banana papaya body wrap or enjoy a typical yet relaxing 30, 60 or 90-minute massage. Island Glow also specialises in Pure Fiji spa treatments, as well as its own spa products which come in mostly tin and glass tubes for a more sustainable touch. Try their “Feluteni Balm” where 10% of the purchase goes to the Queen’s charity. Find them upstairs in the Post Office Building in Nuku’alofa town centre.
Island Glow is open from 9 am to 6 pm Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 7 pm Friday, and 9 am to 4 pm Saturday.
Mia Hair and Beauty
If you’re in the capital and are short on time but crave a bit of pampering, head upstairs to the local’s favourite, Mia Hair and Beauty. While primarily a hair salon, the team of Filipino beauticians and stylists use their skilful hands for soothing head massages, facials and foot massages. Pop in for an “Express Facial” or indulge in the full 45 minutes with a clay or collagen face mask. They also have a foot spa including a foot soak, scrub and massage. Find the parlour upstairs on the corner of Tu’i Road and Wellington Road, Nuku’alofa.
Mia Hair and Beauty is open from 9 am to 7 pm Monday to Saturday.
Little Treasures Lashroom
Give your lashes or nails an uplift with a pampering session at Little Treasures Lashroom. Tucked away in the laneway known as “Taufa’ahau Village” in Nuku’alofa town centre, the beauty parlour offers a sleek and airy environment (helped by the high ceilings) for a relaxing manicure, pedicure or lash extensions. It’s also a good place to mingle with friendly locals. Note that rates are cheaper from Monday to Wednesday.
Little Treasures is open from 9 am to 9 pm Monday to Saturday.
Kamini’s Beauty Bliss
Unleash your radiance with a beauty treatment at Kamini’s Beauty Bliss. Another parlour located in Taufa’ahau Village, your beautician, Kamini, will ensure you’re beach-ready with the full range of waxing services. Better yet, unwind with a deep cleansing and exfoliating facial using coconut oil and a herbal face mask. Facials also include a head and scalp massage. Eyebrow tinting and threading are also available.
Kamini’s is open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Saturday. However, it’s sometimes impromptuly closed, so it is best to book ahead.
Mike’s Studio
Yes, that “We Buy Gold” shop in Nuku’alofa is the next massage parlour on our list of spas in Tonga. Although seemingly more of a pawn shop than a massage studio, Mike’s Studio is set up for relaxing massages in partitioned corners of the small studio with floral drapes and soothing lighting. Walk in for 30-minute or one-hour massages performed by Mike or his father (yes, male masseuses only). Although you can book ahead, they cannot guarantee you a spot at the time booked, so it’s just best to walk in. Find Mike’s on Wellington Road (across the road from the Teta Tours building), Nuku’alofa.

Sea Change Eco Retreat
Sea Change Eco Retreat offers massages from their seasonal resort open from May to November. One of the co-owners of the resort on the uninhabited Uoleva Island is a qualified relaxation therapist who offers a range of treatments. Choose from shoulder, neck, head and full-body massages experienced in the resort’s bush-and-beachfront private massage fale (bungalow). Serenity Beaches Resort
Another resort in Ha’apai offering wonderful and relaxing massages is the Serenity Beaches Resort. The owner of the resort is a qualified massage therapist who offers indulgent massages for guests for a reasonable rate. One of her specialities is the Hawaiian “lomi lomi” massage.
