The Best Accommodations for Fishing in Tonga

If your idea of a tropical getaway is hopping from your idyllic island abode onto the boat to catch some of the Pacific’s largest pelagics, then you’re in luck. Tonga is best described as the underdog of fishing destinations in the South Pacific. But those who do find themselves reeling in the big ones, typically catch the likes of blue marlin, mahimahi, yellowfin and dogtooth tuna, wahoo and much more. Check out some of the best fishing resorts and lodges in Tonga in the guide below.

Note that Tonga is an ever-evolving country with some services that accommodations provide changing with little notice. While we try to keep our accommodation listings up-to-date, know that some services may have changed. If you have an update, feel free to reach out.

1. Blue Water Retreat (‘Eua)

Specialising in spearfishing and sports fishing, Blue Water Retreat is the base for fishing holidays with “Spearfishing Tonga“. This beachfront accommodation on ‘Eua offers a place to stay on one of Tonga’s less-visited islands, which is a haven for anglers. The accommodation features six fales within walking distance of the beach, as well as glamping tents elevated on private decks for something a little more unique. The resort has a restaurant on hand to prepare your catch in a variety of ways. Check out other accommodations nearby in our guide, Where to Stay on ‘Eua: The Best ‘Eua Accommodations.
