Tongatapu Accommodation on the East Side
The only accommodations outside of the capital, Nuku’alofa, can only be found on Tongatapu’s eastern side. Staying on this side of Tongatapu is ideal for travellers looking for a holiday retreat surrounded by nature, perhaps by the beach or within a lush forest. Although staying on the east side of Tongatapu means that you don’t have the conveniences of Nuku’alofa on your doorstep, it’s only a 30-minute drive to get into town.

Vuna Road to the east side of the Royal Palace stretches another 2.5 km (1.6 mi) until the end of Taufa’ahau Tupou IV Domestic Wharf. There is a cluster of accommodations close to the city centre along Vuna Road and inland in Kolofo’ou and Fasi mo e afi ‘a Tungi suburbs/villages. Nuku’alofa Accommodation in Southern Nuku’alofa
