How to Get Around Tonga in Three Days

Although we give you some transport tips within the itinerary, here’s a quick overview of how to get around Tonga on your romantic weekend.

Tongatapu is well-connected with roads, with car rentals, taxis, buses, airport transfers and guided tours available. While resort transfers are usually the easiest option for getting between the airport and your accommodation, renting a car or taking a guided tour are good ways of getting around Tongatapu to see the sights.

Day 1 – Arrival in Tonga

Travel time: 15-20 mins airport transfer.

Your honeymoon in Tonga begins! We recommend staying in one of the glorious resorts on Tongatapu’s eastern side, providing a more idyllic and natural setting than what can be found in Nuku’alofa.

From Fua’amotu Airport, your resort transfer will be waiting if arranged or taxis are available to take you to where you need to go.

Settle into your fale or treehouse and enjoy a romantic meal that your resort provides. You might catch a Tongan cultural performance and feast or enjoy something more intimate from your fale’s private verandah. Either way, you’ll be fuelled for a day of adventure tomorrow.
