Note that Tonga is an ever-evolving country, especially when it comes to accommodation. With that in mind, some of the services accommodations provide are known to change without notice. If there is any information needing an update in the listings below, feel free to reach out!
1. Sandy Beach Resort
Set on the shores of an unspoiled beach, Sandy Beach Resort boasts 12 modern bungalows and Ha’apai’s most upscale resort. All of the accommodation here is exclusively for couples with each fale having a king bed, a private terrace and an ensuite bathroom with hot water and high-pressure showers (yes, that’s almost a novelty in Tonga). Aside from finding a hammock to relax in, the resort offers a wealth of free activities for couples to enjoy, between snorkelling over vibrant corals and sailing across a lagoon. On-site is also a fabulous restaurant offering a delectable menu of local and international fare. Be sure to also try their cocktails and Tongan beers! 2. Sea Change Eco Retreat
Choose your eco-adventure, staying in a glamping tent or a sustainably built wooden hut at this off-the-grid retreat on Uoleva Island. Sea Change Eco Retreat has just a small selection of accommodation for couples, providing the boutique resort experience. All accommodation is located in its own quiet corner of forest with pathways to the restaurant, massage fale, yoga shala and beach. The resort also offers a range of utterly romantic activities, including picnic lunches for an island walk, yoga sessions, island massages, as well as swimming with humpback whales! 3. Kitesurf Tonga
Don’t let the kitesurfing label fool you. You don’t have to be into kitesurfing to enjoy a romantic stay at the boutique Kitesurf Tonga. The resort has just five attractive fales made with natural timber from the island, Uoleva Island, which feature an ultra-spacious ensuite with hot solar showers. The fales also boast king-sized beds with memory foam mattresses and diffused lighting to set the mood. Aside from kitesurfing, your time here can be spent snorkelling straight from the beach, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, whale swimming, walking around the island with a picnic lunch prepared by the resort, and more.
4. Serenity Beaches Resort
Nestled among the trees only moments away from white-sand beaches on both sides of the property, Serenity Beaches Resort has something to suit most couples. Stay in an open-air fale with garden showers to embrace the nature around you. Or if you prefer, there are fully-enclosed fales. Either way, you’ll be nestled in your own piece of private paradise, as each fale is in its own section of forest. The accommodation on Uoleva Island offers a number of experiences, such as island massages, yoga sessions in a pavilion, whale swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, island hikes and more.

5. Fanga ‘o Ipu Lahi Resort
Finally, experience pure isolation on Lifuka Island at Fanga ’o Ipu Lahi Resort. The only accommodation on the secluded eastern beaches of Ha’apai’s main island, Lifuka, Fanga ‘o Ipu Lahi provides the beach resort experience while being conveniently close to Pangai. The resort provides a more Tongan experience than most in Ha’apai, as it’s locally owned and operated and offers experiences like an umu feast on a Sunday. Forget about sand in your fale, as the standalone units are all connected by an elevated boardwalk winding through attractive tropical gardens. There aren’t many activities on offer here, as this accommodation is all about relaxation.
